Fundamentalism: Race, Truth and Democracy in a Global World

Overview

The Kirwan Institute of the Study of Race and Ethnicity is pleased to present a two-day panel discussion on fundamentalism. The Fundamentalism Conference will explore different aspects of fundamentalism i.e., religious, political, and market. Where appropriate, each panel will explore areas of religious fundamentalism from a Christian, Islamic and Judaic perspective. Panelists from across the country and at The Ohio State University will join in this discussion including David Domke, Hugh Urban, Andrea Smith, and Mark Levine. It is our hope that the general public will gain a deeper understanding of the meanings and interpretations of fundamentalism and to stimulate an open-dialogue on the historical and socio-political relevance of fundamentalism in a democratic and pluralistic society that is both racially and religiously diverse. This event is free and open to the public.
